Their decade-long run on the kratom market makes Major Kratom one of the oldest vendors in the business. The brand allegedly got nominated for the Best Kratom Vendor award of 2011 from the Kratom Connoisseurs forum — just a year after opening their doors.
Advertising their product as ‘world class kratom’, Major Kratom definitely does a good job at propping up their name. But despite all of that, this vendor leaves some major loopholes in their story. Without a verified, consumer-generated footprint about any of their products, the brand’s reputation remains in question.
According to their About Us page, Major Kratom first opened their virtual store in 2010. They say that they saw a lack of ‘polish’ when it came to the available vendors on the market. So, they made it their goal to provide customers the quality shopping experience that they themselves expected to find when browsing kratom options.
Polished branding however doesn’t seem to be their strongest suit. The vendor’s website lacks that oomph that you might expect from an alleged world-class brand. Their basic online storefront touts neutral colorways and streamlined outlines that make shopping a breeze. But at the same time, it lacks any stand-out features.
Products on their online store showcase poorly thought-out photographs. Some pictures for their kratom look like they were taken on the fly. Nevertheless, they do make up for it with their packaging. The vendor sells all of their powders in standing resealable kraft paper bags while smaller weights arrive in little branded tubs.
Their selection might seem a little scarce if you’re big on variety. They also don’t sell any capsules, however they try to mix things up with accessories and about one or two other botanicals sold alongside their kratom.
Customer feedback is where things get pretty shady. Despite being around for over a decade, Major Kratom doesn’t have much consumer-generated content on the web. Forums like Reddit remain silent about the vendor. And even with close to 10,000 likes on their Facebook page, they’ve received zero reviews.
Interestingly however, the only comments for the vendor exist on their website. Buyers are free to leave reviews for their products online. That said, most of their products have at least a handful of feedback ready for viewing as you open each individual product’s page.
The trouble here however is that no one verifies the feedback left behind. With anyone allowed to leave reviews, and the vendor in charge of approving or denying them, it’s hard to believe the legitimacy of the comments left for their products.
Major Kratom’s products are majorly expensive. With their 250g bags even more expensive than some kilograms on the market, buyers need to be pretty minted to sustain Major Kratom as their go-to.
Here’s how they compare to a few other brands on the market:
|MAJOR KRATOM||KRATOM VIRTUE||ACADICA||BOTANICAL BUNNY|
|Starts at $11.99 for 25g||Starts at $5.99 for 25g||Starts at $29.95 for 250g||Starts at $5 for 28g|
|$52.99 for 125g||$19.99 for 100g||$49.95 for 500g||$12 for 100g|
|$85.99 for 250g||$34.99 for 250g||$89.95 for 1000g||$25 for 250g|
|$89.99 for 1000g||$90 for 1000g|
For the record, Kratom Virtue, Acadica, and Botanical Bunny are already considered some of the more expensive names in the kratom biz. So, for Major Kratom’s 250g packs to come at pretty much the same price as these three vendor’s kilos just proves how expensive their product can be.
Crunching the numbers, Major Kratom’s powders sell for between 0.48¢ and 0.34¢ by the gram. To put things into perspective, some vendors go as low as 0.06¢ to 0.07¢ per gram.
To be clear, Major Kratom’s positive reviews come from their own website. And as stated earlier, none of these reviews have been verified. So, it’s unclear as to whether the comments come from actual buyers.
Nonetheless, here’s what they have to say:
“First time customer here and definitely not the last time I’ll order from Major Kratom. This red borneo is superb! They shipped my order right away and I love the tin it’s packaged in– it’s convenient and sophisticated. Their customer service is very good, too. I had a question I emailed them with and they responded promptly. Overall, top notch quality and service and it’s an added bonus they are located in my home state. Thank you, Major!” – Major Kratom website
“I was more than happy with my order. Great product, will buy again and again, highly recommend to everyone.” – Major Kratom website
“Yes I ordered the 125 great product, very fast shipping, I am more than pleased, with this company, and the service. representative was super nice. Will buy again. And let all friends know how good this product is.” – Major Kratom website
“I’ve had Maeng Da from a different company in capsules, but this hands down blows it out of the water by a few miles. I got a sample of the White Vein Borneo as well and it’s nice too! But don’t let this fool you, this is top shelf quality right here. Also, these guys ship extremely fast and was very satisfied with the service of Major Kratom! Thanks again guys!” – Major Kratom website
“I was ready to give up, but with the products you have to offer it has pushed me to improve myself and it has had such positive effect on my overall quality of life that I really can’t thank you guys enough! I don’t know where I would be today if it wasn’t for Major Kratom!” – Major Kratom website
The fact that Major Kratom doesn’t have any negative feedback online is in itself, a major red flag. Any kratom vendor will get complaints and critical comments now and again — it’s all part of the reality of being in retail. But with literally zero negative reviews about Major Kratom across the web, it’s tough to trust the brand.
Even their Facebook page with all of its 10,000 followers doesn’t get too much activity. With every post accumulating between one and two likes, it’s hard to believe that all of the vendor’s Facebook followers are real, organic, and authentic profiles.
What’s even more interesting however is that Major Kratom doesn’t seem to exist on Reddit. With a single thread making mention of the brand’s name, Redditors seem unaware that this decade-old vendor even exists. And that raises serious questions considering how Redditors are usually hyper-vigilant when it comes to vendors.
Major Kratom doesn’t have a mailing list, so signing up to get routine discounts and promotional offers through email is out of the question. That said, the vendor courses all of their discounts, sale information, and other price cut offers through their official Facebook page.
Major Kratom makes no mention of lab testing on their website, despite claiming to sell ‘world-class kratom’. This makes it unclear as to whether they test their products for contamination and adulterants, or for mitragynine content.
However, since the vendor has neither confirmed nor denied their lab testing status, we can’t really draw any conclusions.
As of writing, Major Kratom isn’t affiliated with the American Kratom Association or AKA. This consumer-led body operates to regulate kratom vendors. Their purpose is to make sure that all brands abide by strict safety and sanitation protocol. This helps guarantee that whatever kratom you buy is free from harmful contamination.
Vendors that pass the AKA audit receive a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certificate to prove their compliance. Unfortunately for buyers particular about AKA-GMP certification, it seems that the Major Kratom brand might not fit the bill.
Sure, they might not have had any run ins with the authorities or the FDA. But these aren’t the only indications of an illegitimate operation. In general, a vendor that puts in effort to keep a suspiciously clean slate might be hiding more serious issues.
And because it seems Major Kratom has actively been trying to sanitize its online reputation by filtering negative reviews, buyers should remain wary. It’s also worth mentioning that their 2011 nomination can’t be confirmed since the Kratom Connoisseurs forum has been down for the past few years.
Lastly, it’s important to point out that their Facebook popularity seems like an elaborate ruse. While 10,000 followers might seem impressive, their lack of engagement with the vendor’s post leads many to believe that most of these alleged followers could be dummy accounts.
At the end of the day, there are loads of other vendors out there that offer excellent product, transparent, hands-on customer service, and high quality products that really get the job done. Plus, lots of good, honest vendors earn their positive reputation without the smoke and mirrors.
If you’re thinking of buying from Major Kratom, scout your options first. But in case you really want to give the vendor a try, see to it that you stick to smaller orders first.
