This week, kratom’s legalization is pending in one of its home countries, we’ve got the latest online kratom discounts, and some site updates for December.
Although Thailand is one of kratom’s largest producers, the plant has been illegal to grow in Thailand since 1943. The Thai government has considered legalization several times throughout the early 2000s, but these attempts were ultimately unsuccessful.
However, on November 23rd, 2018, the Thai National Legislative Assembly gathered to review a bill that would amend the country’s long-standing Narcotics Act. The bill, which would legalize cannabis and kratom for medical use, was met with near-unanimous support.
For years, critics and skeptics – including the United States FDA – have drawn attention to kratom’s illegal status in Thailand as an indicator of the plant’s danger. Now, with medical use legalization pending in Thailand, it’s possible that kratom’s bureaucratic stigmatization may be widely challenged.
