American Kratom Association Discredits FDA Kratom Deaths Citing “Errors And Omissions”; Creates Petition To Reject Schedule 1 Recommendation
In a recent blog post, the American Kratom Association revealed that the United States FDA’s recommendation for the illegalization of kratom was supported by a death count that, according to them, is misleading and in some cases, outright false. The AKA points to a number of discrepancies and inaccuracies with the FDA’s “kratom death toll,” including a death that’s listed twice, as well as untimely deaths that have no definitive causal connection with kratom. According to the AKA, these misrepresentations of mortality include suicides, a homicide by gunshot, and even a death involving a fall from a window. Following this development, the AKA has launched a petition to prevent the FDA from illegalizing kratom on the grounds of falsified evidence. As of this writing, the petition has nearly 13000 signatures with a set end-goal of 40000. Chris Bell’s kratom documentary, A Leaf Of Faith, will be available via Netflix’s online streaming service starting August 27th. The film, released earlier this year, was met with positive reception and currently holds an 8.8 review score on IMDB.
