Some family members are more alike than different, and that seems to be the case with Green Vietnam and Red Vietnam kratom. Although these two kratom strains are sold individually, they seem to offer similar effects.
Still, it’s possible that one type of Vietnam kratom might be a better fit for you. As a versatile plant, kratom offers multiple beneficial properties, so it’s worth taking the time to evaluate your preferences.
Read on to discover what other users have said about these strains, where they come from, and what they might offer you!
The Vietnam family of kratom strains isn’t quite as popular as Bali or Maeng Da. Nonetheless, Vietnam kratom is widely available and favoured among kratom buyers, new and old.
Both Green Vietnam and Red Vietnam are seemingly named after Vietnam, a country in Southeast Asia. However, despite the name, most Vietnam kratom is likely cultivated and exported from the neighbouring nation of Indonesia. As of this writing, Indonesia is the world’s foremost kratom supplier, while Vietnam’s kratom industry is small to nonexistent by comparison.
As you might expect, Green Vietnam is typically greener in colour than Red Vietnam. In contrast, Red Vietnam’s coloration is often darker and redder. But this isn’t always the case.
Aside from sharing a common name, Green and Red Vietnam seem to have similar properties. Most user reports describe both strains as “balanced” and “mild.” That said, there appear to be some distinctions.
Green Vietnam seems to be best described as moderately euphoric and stimulating. In low-to-moderate doses (1-5g), it may increase one’s mood and energy levels. Some users have also found that Green Vietnam provides effective pain relief. Others have praised the strain’s above-average duration of effects, which can last up to four hours.
However, Green Vietnam doesn’t seem to be a very relaxing strain. Its balanced nature might also make it underwhelming for some users.
Like Green Vietnam, Red Vietnam appears to be moderately euphoric. But Red Vietnam also seems to be more sedating. Instead of promoting mood and energy, Red Vietnam’s onset will likely promote mood and relaxation.
But aside from being more relaxing, Red Vietnam seems to fall short of Green Vietnam in nearly every other category. Red kratom strains generally provide strong pain relief, but Red Vietnam’s pain-relieving potential seems average at best. Users might also be let down by Red Vietnam’s average duration of effects.
Green Vietnam and Red Vietnam are similar in several ways. Both seem to have mild, balanced effects profiles compared to other kratom strains. As a result, Green and Red Vietnam might be suitable for new kratom users who aren’t accustomed to the plant’s effects or experienced users who prefer mild strains.
But if you’re choosing between the two, consider your preferences.
If you’re looking to increase your energy, mood, and focus during the day, Green Vietnam might be preferable. Green Vietnam seems more stimulating than Red Vietnam overall.
However, if you’re looking to relax and unwind in the evenings, Red Vietnam might be the better option. Red Vietnam seems more sedating than Green Vietnam overall.
Kratom strains can offer different effects. But, in some cases, the differences between strains are less pronounced. Comparing Green and Red Vietnam seems to be a reminder of the latter.
That said, kratom’s effects are also subjective, so your experiences with these strains might differ from other users.
